Rare account of Westall UFO landing in 1966

The following is a story recounted by a teenager who attended Westall High School and witnessed something unusual on April 6, 1966. Just three months after the Westall UFO encounter this account was released to the public. This account is different from many because 1. the witness was not a child but in fact a high school student 2. the students recollection was recorded very shortly after the incident.

QUFOSR stumbled across this account while searching through an old copy of the Australian Flying Saucer review (No. 5 – 1966).

The Min Min Lights

The Min Min Light is an unusual light phenomenon that has often been reported in outback Australia. Many associate The Min Min Lights with remote and rural Australian UFO encounters.

Accounts of the light appearances vary, though they are most commonly described as being fuzzy, disc-shaped lights that appear to hover just above the horizon. They are often described as being white, though some accounts describe them as changing colour from white to red to green and back again. Some accounts describe them as being dim, others describe them as being bright enough to illuminate the ground under them and to cause nearby objects to throw clearly defined shadows.

Some witnesses describe the light as appearing to approach them several times before retreating. Others report that the lights were able to keep pace with them when they were in a moving motor vehicle.

The name “Min Min” derives from the small settlement of Min Min, located between the outback towns of Boulia and Winton in Queensland, Australia. This is where the light was observed by a stockman in 1918.

Stories about the lights can be found in Aboriginal myths pre-dating European settlement and have since become part of wider Australian folklore.

Indigenous Australians hold that the number of sightings has increased alongside the increasing ingression of Europeans into the outback. QUFOSR has spoken to several Aboriginal Australians about their encounters with these lights and we will present a video in the future.

According to folklore, the lights sometimes follow or approached people and have disappeared, sometimes very rapidly, when fired upon, only to reappear later on. The first recorded sighting dates to 1838, in the book Six Months in South Australia.

The above video is an excerpt from ‘The Extraordinary’.

The Gundiah Mackay Alien Abduction – Australia

The Gundiah Mackay Abduction is a controversial case in the ufology. October 4th, 2001 Amy Rylance, Keith Rylance and Petra Heller claimed that Amy was abducted by a UFO. Keith stated he had fallen asleep at around 9PM in a caravan bedroom. Petra stated that she went to into her bedroom in the residences annex. Amy stated that she had stayed on the couch watching TV in the lounge room.

Later on the evening of October 4th Amy Rylance claims she was abducted by aliens and according to her housemate Petra Hella, an eyewitness, she went floating through the window carried on a beam of light. Her husband, Keith Rylance, described by the Mayor as a very level headed man, was also a witness to the circumstances. The supposed evidence of this abduction included a fly screen on a window that was split open and a burnt plant on the outside of the window.

Approximately ninety minutes after Petra witnessed the supposed abduction, Amy was found disorientated and covered in mud at Mackay Queensland. For those who don’t know, Mackay is about 790kms from Gundiah. This trip, when driven by car, would usually take at least 8-9 hours.

On discovery Ms Rylance stated that she had been abducted for several days.  When examined by Mackay hospital staff they found that she had in fact not eaten for days, and her usually shaven bodily hair had grown considerably.

Australian Nuclear Testing UFO incident – Declassified file

Between 1956 and 1963 top secret British nuclear tests occurred at the Maralinga site, part of the Woomera Prohibited Area in South Australia. A total of seven nuclear tests were performed at this site while in operation.

Although four major tests had been carried out with some publicity, the minor tests were carried out in absolute secrecy. These secret trials were codenamed ‘Kittens’, ‘Tims’, ‘Rats’ and ‘Vixen’.

July 15, 1960 – While staff were on site of the top secret ‘Vixen’ nuclear program, an unidentified flying object was reported at the nuclear weapons testing range by several credible members of the military.

The following video contains a copy of the actual report, originally submitted to The Range Commander. The briefing gives an insight in to what the members of the military witnessed on the evening of July 15, 1960.
